Matthew Napoli is a painter based in Providence, Rhode Island. He began his training at San Jacinto College in his native Houston, Texas. He earned his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and shortly after completed a residency at the New York Academy of Art. He was a finalist for the 2022 AXA Art Prize, and in 2023 he was awarded a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation. In 2024 he earned his MFA from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
